Buying a unit

Is it possible to see an Easy Lift unit in operation?

There is most likely a happy owner near you who will be happy to welcome you on one of his worksites to show you all the advantages and benefits of an Easy Lift unit. Just click the link below and we will put you in touch with one or more owners, come and visit us!

I’m in the United States. Is it complicated to buy in Canada?

Since the entry into force of the NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement between Canada, Mexico and the United States) in 1994, all goods are free to circulate in North America. In 2018, a renegotiation occurred but the conditions remained essentially the same. We will deliver your unit directly to your door, without any hassle or additional costs.

Do you offer financing?

Financing is not our business but, we have worked closely with third parties for several years. We will happily collaborate with the financial institution of your choice.

What is the process for placing an order?

Once the choice of the unit and selection of options are complete, a contractual commitment will be sent to you. A deposit is required to put your unit in production, and preparation of your unit then starts. Once the final invoice has been paid, we deliver your unit right to your door.

Are your units adapted to harsh winter climates?

Remember, we are in Canada. All our units are tested at UPequip’s head office in Verchères, Quebec, where the temperature variation is from the hottest and wettest in July (82F) to the coldest of February (23F). If our equipment performs under these conditions, it will certainly perform where you work.

We also offer a winter starter kit for Arctic conditions. Do you need a unit in Alaska? We will send you one, and it will work!

Do your units have electronic components?

Some models have very few electronic components, which are used to provide all the security required to reach the incredible horizontal reach offered by Easy Lift units. But you will mainly find electrical components in our units: simple components such as relays, switches, fuses and … voltage! That’s all! No more headaches caused by components and controllers that are too sensitive to temperature variations.

Easy Lift also makes very limited use of diagnostic connectors, which tend to corrode and stretch. Our smallest units do not have any, and the unit that carries the most will have 2 maximum – for the whole machine.

Are Easy Lift units safe?

All our units are CSA, RE, RU and ANSI certified, without exception. This means that they meet the security standards required to ensure safe operation, but it also means that they have successfully passed the famous (and terribly demanding) Drop Test.

The Drop Test is an essential step to obtain the mandatory CSA B-354 certification for all self-propelled platforms sold, rented or operated on Canadian territory. It makes it possible to assess the consequences when a unit is placed in an extreme position and its operator is ejected from the basket. “Extreme position” means that the horizontal limit of the equipment is reached based on a weight of 350 pounds and that the stability system has reached its limit. A weight is then hung 3 feet outside the basket and released at the end of a 4-foot safety lanyard. It’s pretty violent as a test, and very impressive. Several competitors’ units have failed to pass this test and their sale is therefore prohibited in Canada. All Easy Lift units have successfully passed the CSA Drop Test.

What type of combustion engine do you use?

We use Honda engines for our gasoline units, Hatz engines for diesel units, and Kubota engines for two specific models.

Honda engines offer legendary reliability, and their ubiquity allows you to find replacement parts quickly wherever you are. In addition, Honda guarantees its engines for a full year, regardless of the number of hours of operation. Finally, conversion to propane is possible with Honda engines, giving even more flexibility.

Hatz engines are by far the best small diesel engines on the market. Very robust, they are very popular in the compaction industry. They have all the attributes sought for a compact lift. Air-cooled, they have no external components to the block such as a radiator, belt, alternator or water pump. They come pre-assembled in a single block. They require minimal maintenance and offer excellent performance and a very long service life. Hatz offers a full 2 year warranty on its engines, again regardless of the number of hours of use.

Kubota engines are used on 2 of our compact units: the 87-48AJ and the 101-48AJ. The reason is simple: Kubota is the manufacturer that offers the best power vs dimension ratio, and the ideal power for these 2 units while respecting the space available for the engine in the unit.

Can I use the platform in electric mode?

Yes. This is a standard feature. All Easy Lift units are hybrid, and allow you to work in combustion or electric mode. Beware that this neat feature is offered as an option for most of other units on the market. According to the situation and the needs of your customers, you will have all the flexibility to be able to work in the 2 modes, combustion or electric. All our units are equipped with 110V or 208-240V AC electric motors, allowing you to work without polluting emissions.

Do I have easy access to the components?

On most units, all hydraulic hoses and electrical harnesses run outside the mast, making inspection, maintenance and repair easier. These components are protected either by aluminum tubes or by indestructible thermoplastic reinforcements (Power Track) and metal covers. The immediate benefit for you is that any hydraulic service company can, on site, make a temporary or permanent repair, or even replace a hose all together. All hoses are fitted with 2 or 3 protective strands in accordance with the North American standard.

What will happen if I push the basket out of its safe limit?

Don’t waste your time, you won’t succeed. Depending on your unit, either the passive or active stability control system will always prevent you from tipping over. The active stability management system uses a simple mechanism accompanied by redundant limit switches that are pre-set and calibrated by our technicians. Despite its awesome simplicity, it is extremely reliable and no, you won’t push your unit over any limit, even if you are very creative. The passive management system is fed with key sensors that knows exactly where you can (and equally importantly where you can’t) go. Simple, safe and impossible to cheat.

Are the movements flexible and gentle?

All the units use real live hydraulic levers which will react to the intensity of the movements printed by the operator. Compact and large units are equipped with Penny & Giles basket controls to ensure smooth and proportional transmission of operator movements.

Is the basket firm or elastic?

All units are certified safe when operated with a wind speed of 45 km / h (28 mph) or less. The metal is made from Domex, an extremely strong alloy from the Swedish company SSAB. All metal components are 100% laser cut, welded in Italy on molds by CNC certified programmers and welders, resulting in a smaller, lighter finish and unparalleled aesthetics. That provides an overall elasticity that is required and that may require some taming.

Delivery

How do I unload the unit?

When your unit leaves our workshops, we will send you an email which will include a familiarization guide that will allow you to take charge when the transporter arrives. If you ever need real-time help during unloading, call us, we will be happy to guide you.

How will unit be delivered upon purchase?

The unit will be delivered to the address provided. If you do not have a loading dock, you will need to hire a towing truck with a swivel platform to unload your unit. This is the usual method: most of our customers have received their unit like this without any problems. The driver will be advised to contact you 6 to 12 hours before arrival to allow you to coordinate with the towing company.

What are the delivery time for parts since you are in Canada?

We use all of the express shipping services you’re used to such as FedEx, UPS, and more. If the order is completed before cutoff, you will receive your part the next day, anywhere in the United States.

What are the delivery timelines?

About a week, depending on the final destination and the options chosen. We spend 25 to 40 hours on each unit to ensure product quality and installation of options. For special or custom orders, manufacturing and assembly will go from 1 to 3 months.

Popular units are almost always stock. Delivery timeline is provided according to our shop schedule. If unit chosen is a special order or not in stock, delivery date will then reflect manufacturer’s production. We are transparent and we keep our customers fully informed throughout the process.

Is there a service center near me?

We will teach you how to carry out the operations that are necessary for its proper functioning, or we will find an external local resource if need be. Ultimately and after our specialists makes a final diagnostic, a tech will come to you for a major repair.

What will you do to help me when my unit breaks down?

Our acquired experience allows us to affirm that in more than 75% of cases, the cause of the problem is not a breakdown of equipment but a faulty operation. Whatever the cause is, we proceed to a technical support session. In 95% of cases, it only takes one session to identify the problem; all you’ll need is a digital multimeter and a little patience. Without a doubt purchasing a lift from UPequip was one of the most lucrative purchases in my career . As a 20 year tree climbing veteran it was a nice break up in the daily grind to not have to climb everything all the time. I love climbing but you simply cannot beat the production due to access and capabilities of the compact telescopic boom lift. It goes places and does things that have diversified my business and definitely increased income. The support from UPequip is second to none. They walk you through any issues with a phone call mostly, if on a rare occasion they occur. I love my easy lift and will purchase another as soon as possible.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything here, but I felt compelled to share my experience with the folks @ UP Equipment. While I haven’t bought a significant number of brand new pieces of machinery, I have had years of experience trying to work with manufacturers to dial out the bugs and difficulties with heavy machinery. Point being, I have something to compare with. When you’re truly ready to pull the trigger on a compact lift, I feel you owe it to yourself to give UP Equip a call. Their communication and support has been top notch from the very beginning. I first spoke with Alain Paré. If I understand his position, he primarily handles sales, although he has gone out of his way to help me whenever I’ve reached out. I’m getting used to bypassing him and contacting other point people within the company, and they have all presented the same positive and helpful attitude. These people would include Martin and Remi. Remi handles tech support, and his guidance has been priceless. He is timely and methodical, making diagnosis and repair in the field feel like a breeze. All that said, I don’t want to convey the notion that I’ve spent hours broken down, wondering how I’ll finish the day. The problems I’ve had with the machine have all been minor and easy to fix. It can feel daunting when something isn’t working and you have no idea how to even diagnose. With the support of UP Equip, I’ve handled every single issue within an hour of reaching out to being back in action. I’ve assembled a small tool kit, consisting of 5mm & 6mm Allen Wrenches, a 19mm GearWrench, a Grease Fitting, a Test Light, and small Micrometer. My lunch bag is bigger than this tool kit. Most importantly, I can work with confidence that the dealer support is behind me 100%, and their motto, “Simple Inside”, holds true to the last letter. If you saw the 87-48AJ on display @ Expo last year, you saw my personal machine just days prior to delivery. This machine has made my work with stone dead and crumbling trees in tight locations possible. UP Equip will be at Expo this year as well, and I truly feel they deserve a visit if you’re in the market for a machine. Thanks for everything, @UP Equip !!! As a customer from the US, I was a little apprehensive about buying equipment from a vendor in Canada for when repairs/maintenance issues arose, but UPequip has been very helpful and prompt in answering any questions we've had regarding our lift. Their customer service is excellent and they have always made getting my equipment back up and running a priority.

UpEquip has been valuable asset to our business. As an equipment rental company, our 70-36A spider lift was a phenomenal addition to our fleet. Alain was incredibly helpful during the buying process, and we know their service department is a quick phone call away should we need any assistance. Highly recommend!

I purchase a 61-36A machine a couple of years ago. Overall, I’m very happy with the machine and extremely happy with the service I’ve received from UPEquip. The machine suits my needs very well and have had few problems. I have had a few issues with electrical problems.. The AC/DC converter went bad twice but UPEquip was always a phone call away to get me out of a jam. I would highly recommend buying one of there machines and the follow up service is PRICELESS

I purchased an EasyLift 87-48AJ from Up Equipment in March of 2020. It has done an excellent job for us, more than doubling production on any job requiring a climber. In fact, I no longer employ a climber. If I cannot get the EasyLift close enough to a tree on a prospective job, I simply don't bid on that job. During the past 8 months, I have only turned down one job!! The lift will go easily into back yards completely inaccessible to a bucket truck, and yet is very sturdy when set up and operating. My lift operator , who has operated several brands of lifts, comments often on how smooth and sturdy it feels. It is simple to maintain, and Up Equipment has been very helpful in diagnosing and correcting the few minor problems that we have experienced with it. I expect many more years of productive service from it.

To the tree guys out there I recommend the more robust 87-48 aj than the smaller units. Beats competitors units head to head on specs. Always someone available if you have questions. Extend the life of your old climber or keep employees out of danger in structurally compromised trees. Can access almost anything. These units are evolving and will become a game changer for the arborist community. Spend the money and get ahead of your competitors.

We purchased the 70-36AJ this past winter. We looked around and end up pulling the trigger on the Easy Lift for various reasons. We do lots of work in natural tree stands, along ravine pathways and areas where our Bucket trucks can not access and on trees where our Arborists should not be climbing. The access this allows and the versatility has given us a edge on competitors in our market for these kinds of jobs. We have been very pleased so far with the lift and have had no issues. Drives nice, fits into backyards easily etc. Great purchase.

I Received my 70-36AJ in September of 2016 to use in those hard to reach places and since I had this truck built it has become my main every day lift because it's so easy to move and setup anywhere. The fact that it is completely controlled by switches and relays "absolutely no computer inside" I have been able to diagnose and repair anything myself, but help is just a phone call away when you need it. I included a good photo of a setup we couldn't do with our truck. I have dozens of photo's of strange places this machine has been setup in. We love ours. We do a lot less creative and complicated roping now that we can always reach our work.

Hey guys. I just wanted to say thank you for all your fast and professional help. Additionally, I wanted to tell you how pleased we are with our second 87' lift. I was in the lift for 9 hours yesterday, on a large job removing hazardous ash trees, while working until dark, and the temperature was a high of 10 F. The new lift is such a difference maker. Thanks again, and hope you're all doing well! (Purchased 2 units)

5+ Stars for UP Equip. We purchased a 101-48AJ in the summer of 2019 and couldn't be happier. The EZ Lift is just that, EZ to use and operate and fix as well. We haven't had any big problems at all with it. When we do have questions UP Equip is quick to respond and help. They are available during off hours as well. Parts arrive promptly and are not outrageously expensive. We have used other brands of lifts that are problematic and break down frequently causing down time. That is NOT the case with the EZ Lift. The customer service and communication are excellent. Our tree crews love working with the 101-48AJ so much that we purchased another EZ lift in the fall of 2020. We are getting the 87-48AJ. Our operators find the EZ Lifts simple to operate. They are intuitive and not complicated like other lifts we have owned. EZ Lift is the ONLY lift we will use moving forward. Look no further, the EZ Lifts are the BEST around. Don't delay, if you need a lift order yours today it will make a huge difference with your productivity! Owner of 2 units
